In order to enlarge using Methadone in substance use treatment in Vietnam in the upcoming future, from 14-17 June, 2021, Center for Training and Research on Substance Abuse – HIV (CREATA-H), based in Hanoi Medical University (HMU) has organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) course for doctors working within substance use treatment field, on using Methadone in treatment, with an enthusiastic participation of 29 doctors from many cities in all over the country such as Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Lao Cai, HCM city, Ben Tre, Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh, Dak Lak, Quang Nam and Thai Nguyen. According to the situation of the pandemic COVID-19 in Viet Nam, the training course has been organized online in order to facilitate lecturers and learners.
The course has been conducted by lecturers of CREATA-H, CDC Ha Noi and Hai Ba Trung Methadone clinics, who have many years of experience working in substance use treatment. Our lecturers applied various teaching methods, combined with practicing on patients, which motivates leaners to take part in the training activities.
In addition, participants also had the opportunity to discuss and share practical experiences when working with patients using drug, to solve problems and answer questions during the days.
At the end of the course, learners are estimated to accomplish the training course and 100% succeed in achieving CME certification for doctors on using methadone in substance use treatment.
