Due to the complicated situation of COVID-19 in Vietnam, it is essential to ensure Methadone/Buprenorphine dispensing for patients in many clinics, in assuring social distancing and quarantine as directed by the Ministry of Health of Vietnam.
On 28th July 2021, Hanoi Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Hanoi CDC) cooperated with Center for Training and Research on Substance Abuse – HIV (CREATA-H) to organize an online sharing session on “Patients transferring and Methadone/Buprenorphine dispensing during COVID-19”.
With the participation of nearly 80 clinic workers from 18 Methadone clinics in Hanoi, the sharing session aimed to discuss and identify difficulties that clinics are facing during this COVID-19. Based on each particular situation, Hanoi CDC suggested collaborating and planning for consistent solutions between clinics in order to support each other in dealing with their difficulties.
Representative from Hanoi CDC has also emphasized the role of Directives in handling practical situations that clinic workers might encounter while dispensing medicine for patients. Accordingly, it is necessary to comply with the guidelines; report the situations; then transfer patients and dispense medicine for patients in case of isolation applied in Hanoi.
