On 4th August 2021, Viet Nam International Technology Transfer Center – V-ITTC, based in Hanoi Medical University, organized the 2nd Advisory Board Meeting via Zoom due to the situation of COVID-19. The meeting was hold with the aim of summarizing V-ITTC activities in 2020-2021 and planning for 2021-2025.
There were 30 deputies from the Department of Science, Education, Culture and Social Affairs – Government office; Department of Social Affairs – Social Affairs Committee of the National Assembly; Department of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control – Ministry of Health; US Embassy and US CDC in Vietnam; Ho Chi Minh CDC and Hanoi CDC; national and international NGOs … especially deputies from INL, ITTC Network Coordinating Office and Colombo Plan participated in the meeting.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Minh Giang – V-ITTC Project Coordinator gave an overview about the achievements of V-ITTC in 2020-2021 and strategies in 2021-2025, Dr. Giang specifically emphasized the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had a serious impact on addiction prevention and treatment field across Viet Nam. Therefore, it is necessary to have operational strategies for the project in the near future, that respond to the actual situation.
The 2nd Advisory Board Meeting successfully took place and had received variable comments on the upcoming operation. The majority of the opinions supported the idea of maintaining, developing, and expanding activities such as: Development of the national network of trainers, training needs assessment, training, technical support, and V-ITTC dissemination… in combining flexible activities to respond to the current complicated COVID-19 pandemic situation.
