On the afternoon of April 1st, the Vietnam International Technology Transfer Center (V-ITTC), Hanoi Medical University successfully held the lecture “Buprenorphine: Starting dose, treatment switching, and long-acting Buprenorphine”.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Didier Touzeau. Dr. Didier Touzeau is a psychiatrist, former Head of Addiction Treatment Department of Paul Guiraud Hospital (France), Board of Directors of the Tobacco Association (France), and Editor-in-Chief of the magazine “Le courrier des Addictions”, and has had more than 10 years of working with many officials and staff from hospitals and medical centers in Vietnam. The lecture attracted nearly 80 participants, most of whom were doctors and healthcare providers at Methadone treatment center and health centers and staff from the Vietnam Administration of HIV/AIDS Control. Moreover, participants had the opportunity to exchange and discuss topics and issues related to treatment experience and switching between Methadone and Buprenorphine.
The lecture focused on the following key topics:
- Pharmacology of Buprenorphine
- Treatment of opioid addiction with buprenorphine
- Switching from Methadone to Buprenorphine and vice versa
- Long-acting Buprenorphine
- Practical experiences in the treatment of opiate addiction with Buprenorphine
Through this lecture, the Vietnam-International Technology Transfer Center (V-ITTC) and lecturers hope to have brought to the participants useful knowledge related to opioid addiction treatment by Buprenorphine.
