On December 21, 2021, the Vietnam-International Technology Transfer Center (V-ITTC), Hanoi Medical University in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), The Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs, and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City to organize an online training course on “Family-based therapy in treatment for youths with substance use disorders”.
The training course has attracted 80 participants; from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), drug rehabilitation centers (private/public), society/community development enterprises, medical centers, etc; coming from different cities or provinces such as: Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Khanh Hoa, Quang Ninh, Da Nang, Quang Nam, etc.
The group of lecturers from Hanoi Medical University and University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City presented the following main topics:
– Introduction to the Law on Drug Prevention and Control and the future plan to implement the family-based therapy in treatment for youths with substance use disorders in real-life settings.
– Stereotypical characteristics of a Vietnamese family
– Introduction to Family therapy and some of the reasons to apply this method of intervention for youths with substance use disorders.
