Online training course: “Common co-occurring disorders among people with substance use disorders” – Session 2

In the afternoon of April 4th, 2022, the Vietnam-International Technology Transfer Center (V-ITTC), Hanoi Medical University successfully organized the second training session of the online training course, “Common co-occurring disorders among people with substance use disorders”.

In this session, Bui Van San MD, MA – Lecturer at the Department of Psychiatry of Hanoi Medical University shared some basic knowledge on co-occurring disorders and common co-occurring psychiatric disorders among patients with substance use disorders and practical experiences of diagnosing, providing care for, and treating patients having psychiatric disorders and substance use disorders.

The session focused on the following key topics:

  • Common co-occurring psychiatric disorders among patients with substance use disorders (Part 2)
  • The associations between substance use disorders and some common co-occurring psychiatric disorders (namely, Generalized anxiety disorder, Major depressive disorder, Schizophrenia spectrum disorder, Borderline personality disorder, etc).
  • Practical experiences and notes when evaluating and treating patients with co-occurring psychiatric illnesses.

Throughout the second training session, the Vietnam-International Technology Transfer Center (V-ITTC), Hanoi Medical University, and the lecturer have provided scholars with useful information and knowledge related to co-occurring psychiatric disorders among people with substance use disorders and shared about practical experiences of working directly with patients.
