Online training course: Home care instructions for people with COVID-19 – Session 3: Psychological issues of COVID-19 patients at home and some interventions

In the afternoon of October 7, the Center for Training and Research on Substance abuse and HIV, Hanoi Medical University, successfully organized and completed the third session of the online training course: HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR PEOPLE WITH COVID-19.

In this training session, Giang Nguyen, with extensive experience in providing mental health care to many COVID-19 patients and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam, presented some statistical data on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Vietnamese people’s mental health and shared a few real-life stories of the unfortunate patients who suffered from COVID-19. Also, Giang Nguyen introduced some useful tips and self-care techniques to help patients and their families take care of themselves at home. The session attracted about 40 participants from all provinces and cities across the country.

The discussion focused on the following topics and social issues:

  • The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of COVID-19 patients and their families
  • Mental health care for patients and their families
  • Self-care
  • Psychological first aid
  • Information on psychosocial support

We hope that this session could provide a lot of useful information and real stories for everyone to be able to relate to themselves, especially for patients who unfortunately have been or are suffering from COVID -19 as well as their families.
